PERMITTING:
The success or failure of many projects invariably depends on obtaining reasonably conditioned permits from federal, state or local agencies.  When negotiating with regulatory personnel, nothing can take the place of experience.  L.S. Sims & Associates has participated in numerous permitting projects.  Our employees have previously worked for industry as well as regulatory agencies and are able to utilize this experience to the benefit of our clients.  The firm recently obtained a permit for the operation of an injection well system that had been in dispute for nearly ten years.  Through the evaluation of operational data and the presentation of statistical analysis to the regulatory agency, L.S. Sims & Associates had the Consent Order rescinded and a permit to operate the system secured within a six-month time frame.

  

 

LITIGATION SUPPORT:
Unfortunately, there are issues that must be resolved through litigation.  Our team has provided expert testimony in administrative hearings, trials and depositions.  In our experience, many of the litigation projects are resolved prior to being heard by a judge,  jury or hearing officer.  The negotiating process that leads to a satisfactory settlement requires technical expertise, social skills and the ability to work effectively with attorneys.  L.S. Sims & Associates offers a wide variety of services to support litigation including: expert testimony; identification, screening and preparation of expert witnesses; peer review of expert opinions, reports and depositions; data collection and performance of specialized sampling events; document sorting, filing and storage; copying and preparation of data base summaries (coding); and preparations of exhibits.
