Wherever
favorable hydrological conditions are present, deep well injection
serves as the right solution for waste disposal. Designing,
permitting and testing injection wells requires specialized technical
skills and an understanding of the regulations governing Underground
Injection Control (UIC). Collectively, L.S. Sims &
Associates has over 40 years of experience in this field. During
1995, on behalf of industrial clients utilizing Class I injection
wells, staff members participated in the state of Florida rule
amendment process through negotiations with the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA).

In addition,
the staff took part in a program funded jointly by the EPA and the
FDEP, which tested alternative geophysical methods created to
demonstrate the mechanical integrity of Class I injection wells.
When the EPA conducted a study of hazardous waste well failures and a
Class V well inventory program, members of L.S. Sims & Associates
were there to participate. A great deal of the firm's experience
lies in the design, permitting and testing of Class I injection wells
for disposal of domestic waste. In total, our staff has worked
on 25 active injection well systems in the state of Florida.
